My Students

I can think of nothing more exciting than teaching literacy in my preschool intensive class! My students are eager learners and they want to learn the alphabet, numbers and shapes. My students need an array of enrichment materials of that will have them flipping and leaping for literacy.

I am a special education teacher working in an urban, high need community where all of the students receive free lunch.

My classroom consist of a variety of students ages three to five with disabilities including autism, Epilepsy, Down Syndrome and Developmental Delays. Many of my students are second language learners and some are non-verbal. They need auditory and visual aids with bright pictures and illustrations that caters to their individual learning styles.

My Project

Music is one of my most powerful teaching tools. I use music to give my students an opportunity to explore and enjoy music in a personal way. In addition, I use music to teach my students listening skills and auditory awareness. Music is also a powerful tool that aids my students language and speech development. I am requesting Read & Sing Flip Charts sets that will motivate my students to be the best learners they can be. The Alphabet Flip and Number Flip chart, teaches the alphabet and numbers through rhythm, rhyme and repetition. The Nursery Rhyme Flip Chart will help my students learn early literacy skills and help them expand their expressive and receptive language. The music will reinforce basic pre-reading and pre-math concepts. Many of the flipcharts are set to music of familiar songs which will encourage my student to join in. The flip charts will be a great tool to aid my students learning. Music and learning, what a great combination!

Preschoolers love music.

They also love to look at bright shiny pictures. The developmentally appropriate flip charts that I am seeking will help my students develop literacy skills that they need for developing reading readiness and literacy. Thank you in advance for taking an interest in my special little population of preschool students. I can not wait to have them flipping for literacy.
