Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Many of my students must be in a lower income bracket to qualify for pre-k. My four year olds come eager and ready to learn about the world around them. They especially love learning through play.
Our families basically had days to get ready to receive online lessons.
The teachers, parents, and students were told during Spring Break that we would begin long distance lessons when our break was over. It has been a struggle to make sure that all our students academic needs are being met.
My Project
The news that we were not returning to the classroom came very quickly in our city. The teachers had very little time to gather materials for online teaching nor did we have experience doing this.
I need an iPad in order to help my parents connect to my long distance teaching.
An iPad will help me know exactly what the students are seeing on the screen during the time I am teaching on my computer. I will not have to disrupt my screen in order to help them. An iPad can also be used as a document camera when needed.
The time will come when we all return to the class room. I have learned of activities I can purchase on teacher pay teacher that will target specific objectives for each child. These activities are specifically meant to be used with the iPad or computer. These items can be used in all areas of the curriculum from language arts , math, science and art.
This experience with long distance teaching has increased my knowledge of how a child can benefit using an iPad. They think they are having fun and they are learning at the same time.
