Our students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, and engaging projects that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are our inspiration!
Our school is located in West Harlem (Title I district).
Our student population is diverse and includes Hispanic, African American, Black, Caucasian, Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian), Biracial, ENL (English as a New Language), and IEP (Individualized Education Program) students. Diversity within our school is something we embrace and nurture.
My Project
My classroom is very fortunate to have a big blue carpet in our classroom. The only downfall is it is very hard for students to find a seat on the carpet where they have their own space, apart from other students. I noticed two years ago in Pre-K that the students would sit on top of each other and become very frustrated.
I feel that having a carpet with individualized sections will be extremely beneficial for my students to understand personal space.
This will allow my students to sit comfortably on the carpet and have their own personal place that is theirs.
