The students in my classroom this year are sweet, young, loving kids. They range from the ages of 3-5. The students enjoy our free choice centers within the classroom. The students enjoy when we bring out and rotate new centers. To see them smile helps brighten my day. Every day is a new adventure with our class.
Sensory breaks are key for students with Autism.
Sensory breaks allow the students' bodies and brains to take a break, then when we regroup, the students will be more focused.
My Project
The items that we are asking for will help the students with their sensory breaks as well as during their everyday center rotations within our classroom.
There are items such as the dogs which would be used for our pet vet theme, the glue and paint would be used in their everyday center rotations, this class loves to make some art masterpieces!
The other items such as the toy food would be for our dramatic play area, which has been a bit hit with this class this year. The food will help them recognize and identify various foods, promote playing skills as well as "chop" the food (which will help with their fine motor skills). The other manipulatives will help the students with their number identification skills, the microscope will be used for our science center to look at various objects, such as rocks, seashells, etc. The sand will be offered as a free choice center, the puzzles will be used by the younger students in our class who are still working on their motor skills.
