Pre-Coding with Penguin Stones

My Project

This year, all Kindergarten students receive computer science. One skill for computer science is introducing coding basic skills. These materials allow my Kindergarten students to get a hands-on experience with pre-coding skills. Students have to learn to recognize the directions, how to match directions, how to make a pattern, and much more before making an algorithm. Students work with these pre-coding cards and cute penguin stones to work on matching, patterns, and basic coding. The stones have the directions on them for the students to lay out the code on the mats to show how the penguin gets to the baby penguin and other challenging cards. It starts basic with matching and builds to where the students have to make the algorithm.
