This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am fortunate to teach an amazing group of third graders. They come from different backgrounds, but in my classroom, we are one and we learn from each other. They demonstrate their uniqueness and strengths through learning and social interactions.
They are creative critical thinkers who engage in their learning by sharing ideas and fostering their talents.
They are highly motivated and ready to practice what they are learning as well as building a community in which we share our experiences and celebrate each other.
My Project
My students have been learing from home since the start of the school year. Distance learning is stressful for all students. Each of them face individual challenges and stressors in and outside of school. The uncertantly of the future of the school year can surface feelings and emotions that students will need support in dealing with. Adding individual mindfulness kits for students to have at home will enhance the Social Emotional Learning that we practice together during our virtual meetings. My students will be motivated to practice by using the various tools in the kits. With mindfulness practice they will continue to learn how to manage their emotions, de-stress and regulate their minds and bodies. My goal is that learing these practices will have a life-long impact in their well-being.
