This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in the second smallest city in Los Angeles County. Our elementary school is 400 students strong. We have 1 percent African American and 98 percent Latinos. We have a 90 percent socioeconomically disadvantaged population and 4 percent foster youth. All of our students receive free lunch. Despite the many challenges they face, my students arrive every morning full of life, ready to learn, and excited to get started on our day. I do my best to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My Project
Button recording devices are fun for all students and are perfect for my classroom with emerging reading/non-reading student to listen to and practice saying sounds correctly!
The ability to hear, identify, and manipulate letter symbols with their appropriate sound is one of the most effective ways of teaching children to learn to read.
These Button recording devices will allow me to record the sounds we are learning so that children can listen to them over and over as needed. Students will be able to push these buttons and them encourage to independently practice sounds, words and even sentences.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
