My students need 2 new word walls to see the words we are learning as well as take home support, Sight-Word Take-Home Rings, to learn to read and write these words.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember when you were learning how to read and write? My students are struggling learning how to do this especially because we don't have any bulletin boards or a place to hang up the words that we are learning.
Our classroom is home to 20 kindergarten students from the inner city.
For most students this is their first experience in school and are coming with very limited skills. They are struggling academically. They need important tools to help them while in the classroom and tools to help them do their work at home.
My Project
They are thirsty for knowledge and would be so appreciative for they help that you can give. We are asking for a two word walls to make it bigger so the students will be able to interact with the word wall and take the word to their seats to practice spelling it or for help during writing time. They will be able to see the words from all over the classroom which will create more exposure to reading and writing the words. We are also asking for word rings to promote practice at home.
Your help is critical to helping the students get more exposure to words.
Seeing them and being able to practice at home and school will help my students succeed. Helping them in kindergarten will set the foundation of enjoying how to read and write later in life.
