Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from an inner city. We are a Title I school, which means that 98% of our children receive free or reduced-price lunch. The majority of my students are ESOL, so English is not their first language. I also have a few ESE (exceptional student education), who are visual and tactile learners.
My fourth grade class is a diverse group of students who are excited to learn in a welcoming environment.
This school year, I am fortunate to teach 45 effervescent students.
My Project
In 4th grade, it is vital that students are able to fluently multiply and divide in order for them to transfer knowledge onto more convoluted mathematical standards. The use of School Zone - Multiplication 0-12 Flash Cards will be utilized daily by students studying their multiplication facts in centers, as pairs, and/or individually.
The old cliché states, “Practice makes perfect.” Sending home, a set of multiplication and division flashcards will allow each of my students to practice at home each night; resulting in them mastering their facts and being successful in chapter assessments, standardized testing and real-world experiences.
Additionally, learning their facts will lead to a lifetime of mathematical success.
