My Students
My students are the most inspiring children you will ever meet. They come from some of the roughest backgrounds being at a Title I school and yet they come in each day with a smile on their face and ready to learn. They are so eager to learn new things and collaborate with their peers.
Some of my students are on their own when it comes to learning at home because their parents do not speak English well, or not at all.
If they do speak English, most of their parents work jobs that do not allow them to spend the time helping their child with school work. This makes their time in the classroom crucial, especially learning core subjects like reading and math. It stresses for me the importance of teaching them that they can dream and go far in life.
My Project
My students are some of the hardest workers you will ever see. I am learning more throughout my years of teaching that practice and good practice is the key to them learning a new skill. These daily practice journals for Math would help them review skills they've learned already and practice the skills they are currently learning. The reading skills will also hone in on comprehension, grammar, and writing allowing me to review specific things they are struggling with. The math skills will address computation, word problems, addition/subtraction, arrays, repeated addition sentences and writing about their math. These books would make such a difference for my students.
