This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are learning disabled. Their disabilities or learning needs are mixed. They are a unique group to me. We are a seventh grade, self-contained class and because I only have fifteen students, I can work with them one on one. We have a closeknit environment, and all of my students are eager to learn.
Our school is located in a low, socio-economic area.
In addition, our school has a limited number of computers and most of them are outdated. Most of my students do not have computer or Internet at home; therefore, it is imperative that they gain computer skills at school as the future of learning most likely will be computer base.
My Project
As technology evolves, so does school. As we begin a new school year, language arts, social studies, science and math books are online. The books are read online and the homework is done online. The students will surf the Internet to conduct research on a daily basis to complete classwork and projects. Working with technology, will become second nature to students; therefore, tablets, laptops and personal computers are very important in the classroom. Computers allow the projects to be comprehensive, creative, colorful and informative. In addition, the students have a world of information in seconds. Students are more engaged in learning when they are using computers. In my experience, their behaviors and their grades improve when they are using technology. I want them to be up to par with the regular education students their age, and technology will be of great help.
