My Students

Help make us authors! My students have a desire to be creative writers but need engaging ways to keep them practicing.

We are a class of 2nd graders in a large urban school district.

My students love to read and write but need more practice to become proficient. We are very diverse in backgrounds and languages. Those children learning English as a second language struggle with the with some of the basics of the English language.

My Project

I am asking for a few learning centers for writing practice. The students need some engaging materials to use independently while I work with small groups. In these centers, the students will be able to practice and work together cooperatively on writing skills that were learned in previous lessons.

Writing practice is so important because I think that sometimes writing is forgotten.

Parents and teachers have grown accustomed to pushing reading practice but neglect to push our children to spend time just writing. These activities are fun ways for my students to just sit down and write. Please help my students to keep writing. You might be reading one of their books some day!
