My Project
My athletes try their hardest to improve their tennis skills, but it can be difficult to provide them with the basic things to let that happen. High school tennis often gets neglected, in popularity and budget.
The tennis players at my school are awesome students, who work hard in the classroom and on the court.
They come from backgrounds where tennis isn't popular, but they fall in love with it. I'm always proud of how they respect the sport, each other, and everyone we play.
Tennis balls take a beating and need to be constantly replaced. Our budget shrinks each year, so we are always exploring new ways that we can get new tennis balls. Practice is not effective if it is done with bad equipment. Practicing with flat tennis balls makes improvement difficult. It also sets up athletes to do poorly in a real match, because the ball bounces differently (when compared to old to new).
Tennis doesn't get a lot of love from people, and that sometimes has a negative effect on my players.
I want to make sure they are supported and get the resources they need.
