The CSS cheerleading team is composed of talented, dedicated, intelligent, and diverse students who travel from all over the New York City Metropolitan area to attend. Our school is a select STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) school in partnership with Columbia University. We are the only select STEM school that represents the true diverse margins of New York City.
Both our varsity and junior varsity cheerleading teams have had huge successes both in school and outside in our community!
Over the past few years, we have been invited to participate in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, Columbia University Games, Harlem Shamrock Festival, a 5K run for charity, and other community events. In addition, we have also competed and won numerous competitions throughout the NYC area!
My Project
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 our cheerleading team has had to move online. Our team has not had as many opportunities to interact and has had to pull many of the main characteristic components of cheer out for the health and safety of our participants. Regardless, we have found ways to still bond and grow as a team. We do online workouts together and have used this as an opportunity to build up our strength, clean up our motions, and improve our dancing skills. We are hoping to do some virtual performances and with the supplies for these bows, we can help to bring the sparkle back to our new performance space. In addition, it is an activity where we will have to work and bring each other together in order to complete--virtual bow making party. Although we are apart, these bows will serve as a symbol of our comradery as a team.
