Practice and Competition Video Content

My Project

As the teacher and advisor of a competitive constitutional law and history class, I hope to provide my students with more opportunities to see themselves present their knowledge and show off their hard work! My students spend many hours each week preparing for competition by reading legal briefs, history, and analysis and practicing by grilling on US and global history, philosophy, case law, and Supreme Court rulings.

But, I hear my students lament that they forgot what they said as soon as practice concludes.

I hope to solve that problem by providing a film after each practice round to review. Many studies show that self-review and reflection develop meta-cognition and improve learning outcomes. The GoPro Hero 13 bundle comes in a compact, easy to use form factor that can be set up quickly without extra cords, so it can be brought and used from room to room, round to round. It will be supported by the additional rechargeable batteries and storage concerns that can be alleviated by swapping SD cards as necessary. These backups also allow for quick upload and sharing with students without slowing down the ability to capture footage.

During our Regional and State competitions, where live audience viewing is very limited, I hope to capture footage of each presentation to share with family and for the students to have as a durable memory of their experience as a member of our Constitution Team.

With your help, this film review will pay off in our practice and preparation as it does with athletics, and our students will be successful enough to compete at the national level in Washington DC, where the filming equipment can be used to capture memories of a once-in-a-lifetime class trip!
