My music kids rock! I teach general music and choir in a preK-12 small, rural school district in Wisconsin. I have approximately 300 students at the preK-6 grade level in music class and see them twice a week or more.
I have two 60+ year old pianos with broken keys that 15 kids share when we play piano music. Right now when 24+ students are playing at the same time, many have to wait for a turn and it gets so loud that when the students do get a turn, they can't hear themselves play.
I would love to build a collection of electric pianos that can be shared by students in pairs. This would allow all students a much more positive and private learning environment.
It is so amazing to see the smiles on my kids faces when the music clicks with them. My 5th and 6th graders are learning a 4-part, 3-theme version of Chopsticks right now and when all the notes jive together - it's pure magic in the room! I'm proud of the challenging curriculum I present to the kids and know we could move faster and learn more with additional resources.
