This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are valuable because of the simple fact that they exist. Working at a Title I school during covid is unique in that it provided me an intimate understanding of how important financial literacy is especially in impoverished communities.
This realization inspired me to create a classroom in which students get paid biweekly, pay rent for their desks, and through project-based learning grasp fundamental financial literacy.
They can either choose to A. spend money at the store or B. "purchase" their desk. Funding the store for 150 kids is a cost I did not anticipate to be so high, for that reason we would really appreciate support with the store.
