This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the pleasure to work with a very special population of students. My students range in grade-levels, physical, academic, emotional and developmental abilities as well. The majority of our students are also part of a low socio-economic status group. Our school is a Title I school with over 80% of its students on free or reduced price lunch. We are limited in resources and so are our students.
Even with all of these challenges, my students come to class with passion and ambition.
They are wonderful students full of curiosity and imagination. I want to provide them with a little extra in their curriculum for their future.
My Project
During the Fourth Quarter of the year, my students will learn about finances through several on-line resources. The laptops we are requesting will help my students work in groups on financial projects through an online resource called "Practical Money Skills for Life". They will be learning about saving, investing and daily personal finances through this on-line resources and other student-led projects.
Learning about finances will give my students an edge now and in their future.
My students will learn about the stock market, how to invest, how to save money and how they can use all these skills for college and beyond.
The laptops will help us succeed in providing this curriculum which will provide essential life-skills for my students now and for their future.
