This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students with special needs are eager to have technology available at their finger tips to access the curriculum more efficiently, since most is book based. Also, they need to have their learning differentiated in a way that is engaging and fun. I want my students to succeed in every way.
I teach students with different learning disabilities in a school where most of our students live in low social economic communities.
My students are eager to learn but their families and our school lack the resources to provide them with the technology they need to make the curriculum more easily to understand. Technology is the way of the future and we as teachers are in desperate need to have technology in every classroom. However, the reality is that my classroom, as well as most of my school's classrooms, do not have any technology available to ensure every student has the same opportunities.
My Project
The use of technology in my classroom will open doors for my students that they can only imagine at this time. They will be able to learn how to make power points presentation, research a topic to write about, play educational games to enhance their learning. Also, be able to learn how to type on a keyboard and use spell check to edit their work and to improve their writing skills. Simply put, they will learn how to use a computer. Most of my students don't have access to computers, therefore, they don't know of the many ways their learning can be enhanced. Their new learning will benefit them as they finish middle school, high school, and extend into their college years. What a special advantage they will have just because they will have the opportunity to access a computer.
My students will be happy and encouraged to learn using computers.
They will be able to understand that learning can be fun and engaging. Having these computers will not only help one group of students, but it will benefit all the students that I will have the privilege to teach in the coming years. As teachers we make a difference in the lives of our students every day. However, when the tools are provided to help us, we can further their education where there are no limits to their learning.
