My Project
When students walk into my lab, they know they are somewhere special. All the equipment is on display for them to see, and they immediately begin to look forward to learning how to use it all. Currently, all of that equipment sits on outdated risers that restrict students' movements, sit too low, and are growing unstable because they can only be mounted to the side of the table top. Over time, with use, they are becoming dangerous, as they wobble which can result in equipment falling off and becoming damaged.
These new risers are top of the line, stable, and far more visually appealing.
They are designed to safely mount to our workbenches and support the weight of all the equipment we use. They are also adjustable, so that I can mount them to accommodate even my tallest students without obstruction or distraction. In my ongoing pursuit of the best environment for student learning, these would be a massive step forward, adding to both the functionality and aesthetic of the lab in students' eyes, and if you can change how a student views their environment, you can change how they interact with it.
