This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title 1 school. All of my students come from low-income areas and receive free lunch. Due to recent budget cuts, our school can no longer afford many things. I currently teach fifth grade dual lanuage where one week instruction is in English and the other week it is in Spanish.

My dual language students are very bright and outspoken!

They strive to work hard every day in both English and Spanish instruction and come from very diverse cultural backgrounds. I love watching them grow into such great independent young learners. I try to meet our students where they are and take them as far as they can go with what we have available.

Despite the challenges my students face in and out of the classroom on a daily basis, they still remain optimistic and eager to learn and grow. Together we work side by side to become 21st century citizens. Help us reach our goal today.

My Project

A new color printer will open up new doors in our classroom and help students become powerfully engaged in their learning. As a dual language teacher, I need to be able to differentiate between Spanish (red) and English (blue) for our students. My students need the printer and the extra ink for a variety of projects. During the Spanish instruction weeks students need packets of reading passage.

A reliable printer stationed within our classroom will motivate my students to further improve their skills since they will be able to print their final product! Also it will help me, as a teacher, fearlessly implement more project-based learning across all subjects like math, science, and social studies, which can be more research and printing demanding for students.
