My Students
Third graders are filled with enthusiasm and abounding energy. My students are curious and eager to learn. They are a fun-loving group of students who jump into projects with gusto. They are passionate thinkers and are concerned with fairness and making a difference in their world.
Our classroom community is filled with a myriad of languages, cultures, and customs.
We strive to know each other deeply and accept and care for each other unconditionally. We each become a better person when we achieve that goal.
My Project
Picture books can be powerful. Precise words and wondrous illustrations can help students understand themselves and others. A read aloud time each day can connect readers and writers, giving a shared experience in the classroom to help build a community of learners.
Students build empathy and community when they share stories together.
Picture books like: "I Walk with Vanessa" by Kerascoet, and "Mixed: A Colorful Story" by Arree Chung can help us celebrate differences and build empathy among classmates and empower students to be kind and brave.
By reading a picture book a day, our class will deepen their understanding of each other and our world.
