This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. They come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community.
Many of my students don't have the ability to learn online, due to not having books they need.
Many depend on picture books that they don't necessarily have at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they deserve to continue learning at home.
My Project
My students loved daily read-aloud time and I want to continue to foster their love of reading during this time of distance learning. I miss my students so much! Distance learning is so different from regular school specially for my students with disabilities. We're all suffering from WAY too much screen time! I would like to supply them with some books so that they are can continue practicing their book handling skills. Most of my students only have access to digital libraries that can be a sensory overload for some.
