Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently teach at an extremely poor Title I school in the city of Chicago where I feel I have learned more from the students than they have from me. As a first year teacher, I was fortunate enough to receive this job. Although, it has been extremely difficult to educate students without the necessary supplies, our students still come to school eager to learn. Our school rarely has extra funding for enriching materials and if there is, funds are used for the upper grades. Many of my students' families will never have additional money to purchase educational materials. Therefore, I hope to be able to provide a fun and interesting way of learning, so my students can succeed in life, in and out of the classroom.
My Project
Because of the pandemic affecting us worldwide, technology has proven to be a saving grace. We have been able to provide instruction remotely to our students in our Chicago Public Schools district for almost an entire year.
We have recently gone hybrid and have acquired new devices for the students in-person in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19, but we are missing a home for them that is safe and accessible for us in our classroom.
We want to get the best possible use out of our devices and promote their longevity without having to trip over cords and having to constantly reconnect and connect them into power outlets. Please help us ease our transition into hybrid learning!
