Power Up Our Choir: Tech Tools for Young Musicians

Help me give my students mobile technology with an iPad Air, protective case, and Apple Pencil to enhance their choir experience with mobility for rehearsals, student-led sectionals, music learning apps, and interactive Promethean board lessons.

My Project

Project Description:

As a choir teacher working with students in grades 5 through 12, I’m constantly seeking ways to make music more accessible, interactive, and meaningful for every student.

Our choir room is a space filled with creativity, collaboration, and learning but to fully support our diverse musical needs, we need the right tools.

I am requesting an iPad Air, protective case, and Apple Pencil to bring powerful, mobile technology into our classroom. This iPad would be used daily by all students in place of a normal desktop computer and in a variety of ways that directly enhance student learning:

1. Interactive Learning: The iPad will allow me to mirror apps, recordings, and scores to our Promethean board, making it easier for students to follow along during warm-ups, sight-reading, and score study.

2. Sectionals & Small Group Work: I often have students working in separate groups to rehearse their parts. With the iPad, students can access their recordings, digital sheet music, and practice tools independently in sectionals whether in the hallway, outside, or in a breakout room.

3. Conducting & Feedback: The Apple Pencil allows students to have access to digitally marked up scores during rehearsal in real-time and instant feedback.

4. Flexibility & Mobility: This iPad will travel with us for performances, outdoor rehearsals, and field trips, keeping us connected to music tools and resources no matter where we are.

5. Accessibility: For students who need accommodations, whether visual, auditory, or organizational, this iPad can be a lifeline for accessing resources in a format that works for them.

This device will not be for personal use, but rather a shared classroom tool that enhances learning for every student, every day. Your support will help our choir continue to grow not only in skill, but in confidence, creativity, and connection.
