Power Up For A Greener Classroom!

My students need 12 rechargeable batteries and a battery charger to use with their Tag Reader Learning System.

I am a first year teacher and I love using technology to teach my sixteen wonderful Kindergarteners. That is why I was so excited to receive the Tag Reader Learning System from DonorsChoose. This technology has been so motivating for my wonderful students--students who come from a very diverse background both socio-economically and racially.

What makes these Tag Readers so wonderful is that they allow students to read books totally independently. If a student comes to a word that he or she doesn't know they can use the Tag Reader to sound it out. This has given my students a lot of confidence, as well as exposed them to books that otherwise they might never have been willing to pick up. However, these Tag Readers require two AAA batteries a piece, and because my students love using them so much, they have been draining the batteries quicker than I would have imagined! To keep up with my students' interest, I have found myself having to replace the batteries already, only after a month of having this wonderful resource.

A battery charger and rechargeable batteries are the perfect solution to this problem. These would allow me to recharge our batteries in the classroom. I would no longer have to buy new batteries, and our classroom would be a greener classroom because we would be reusing our batteries again and again.

Our classroom is so lucky to have this wonderful technology! Your help will ensure that my students have the power to use it again and again while at the same time making my classroom a greener and more energy efficient one. We thank you for all your help!
