Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In a low-income, Latin & Mexican American population of Chicago, I educate students that have hearts of gold. I teach in a school where the students come to school to receive an education and to be safe from the crime in their neighborhood. They support one another to be successful, work in groups, and share in each other's glory. My students are truly on the path to success. They are exceptional thinkers and have a truly inspiring work ethic.

As a member of the school and community, I do my best to support my students and provide them with the best possible experiences and learning opportunities through music.

Our school provides the students with experiences in various after-school clubs, and a fulfilling experience in the fine arts (media, art, and music). However, we are low on funds and resources. These students should have access to instruments and materials in order to achieve a true fine arts experience. I come to you with hopes to bring the best educational experiences to my students. Will you be the reason they are successful?

My Project

Within our music classroom, students have numerous opportunities to use their personal interests to motivate their success when performing on various instruments. Out of all of the instruments, my students have a huge appreciation and excitement for keyboard! Not only can they easily work with partners, but these are instruments that can make modified learning more accessible, and allow for students to create their own independent sound through the use of numerous settings. However, upon doing inventory in the beginning of the year, we have enough keyboards for students to share, but not enough AC adaptors to plug in the instruments, nor do we have enough power strips that work for these bulky adaptors.

By donating to our project for AC adaptors and power strips for our classroom, you will be providing my students with an the experience to read, arrange, compose, and perform many numerous songs from now into the future!

My students range in interests of writing their own songs to learning rap form and performing lyrics and beats simultaneously! We have thought about using batteries, but we feel that we can also save our environment by using AC adaptors we can plug in and unplug upon every use, versus tossing out batteries into the garbage.

My students sincerely wish to have an experience on piano. Will you be the "key" to their keyboard success?
