Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher in an inclusion classroom. This will be my second year working with my students, first in 4th grade and now in fifth. I am looking forward to spending another year with them. They are very bright and hardworking children. They are very thoughtful and polite and love to volunteer to help each other and their teachers. They made so much progress last year and I cannot wait to see how much they grow this year. I know that they are capable of doing great things.
My Project
At my school, our mission is to get the parents engaged in their child's learning. However, many parents work during parent engagement time after school and there also is a language barrier. This program would make it easier for parents to learn about what their child is learning about in school.
This program puts the students in the role of the teacher at home.
Students will be able to teach their family members what they learned in class by completing a collaborative activity together at home. This can be done in their home language.
This program will help make my students successful by creating a strong triangle of learning relationships with their parents and teachers.
