This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At-Home Learning through e-Classrooms and a Virtual Zoom a few times a day has hit these young students, and I quite a bit differently than others dealing with COVID-19. As I approach the 2nd wave of Distant Virtual @ Home Learning and Working at a G.L.O.B.A.L. school I need to provide these young developing minds with ALL resources they would have in the classroom.
My student are 99% English Language Learners and ALL receive Free lunch.
They took there exams in their 1st language and now everything is in English and they are struggling readers that are compassionate and caring.
They are remaining at home to ensure their safety and longevity of life while trying to be educated through this pandemic at a crucial year of life 7th-grade. The Summer Program for the district offered so much for the students, yet there is NO support at all for the materials to be available to the students at home and allow them to achieve same level of success.
My Project
Absolutely, these materials will make a difference in my students' learning by allowing them to connect to a power source and continue to maintain the proper Social Distancing to ensure their safety as they continue to learn.
Yes, due to the requirement for ALL students to return to campus for 4 hours of state testing for 4 different days the class can get overcrowded quickly and ALL of the supplies will be used by scholars that are learning from home to remain socially distanced and safe.
Having the Power Towers with 10 ft cords and multiple outlets will prevent my scholars from having to gather near the one wall for the power supply and breaking the Social Distancing Guidelines. 1 hour of charging time is greater than the recommended few minutes for scholars that are learning from home ALL year except testing days. During the last state test, 2 students were issued computers with a 2% battery charge. The test is timed and there were NO power outlets in the middle of the classroom so this sent my students into panic mode seconds prior to testing. This was NOT GOOD!
Several keys on a few Chromebooks are not working properly so a few students are not able to use them properly and students without a home desk are having to learn with their laptops on their laps and let us be honest we know they can get pretty HOT!
Our district has NOT provided any restock of PPE and we are in NEED of cleaning supplies face shields to get through these extended testing days. Changing classes present a higher risk of cross-contamination for us ALL. Boxes are to quarantine items after use by the students to maintain safety. 2 students are in need of writing help.
