This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Like many students across the nation, my nonverbal students have experienced significant interruptions in their speech therapy sessions. While many students were still able to receive services through teletherapy, nonverbal and limited verbal students did not benefit as much from these interventions and fell further behind. Please help me purchase rechargeable batteries for communication devices and cause/effect switches so we can work on rebuilding their ability to express wants/needs, direct actions, and communicate thoughts without constantly depleting our funding sources by needing throwaway batteries.
Please help me bring new games and activities in to help encourage communication through play!
Bubbles, pretend food, and art materials can help me work on expressive language and also target essential skills like following directions. Storytelling materials will assist students with building vocabularies and sequencing correctly. These skills are essential for both academics as well as social-emotional success in and outside the classroom. Please help me make a difference and close the gap created by COVID-19!
