Our School District is a public school nestled in the beautiful country side of central Pennsylvania. We are a close-knit and rural community. Students no longer have an art program at the elementary level, but they come to high school eager to explore the Arts. Since many of our students are interested in Agriculture or entering the work force after high school, my art lessons promote problem solving skills, increased confidence, creative thinking, and a gained comfortability of stepping out of ones comfort zone. My students may not all go on to have a job in the field of art, but they learn the benefit of art in their lives in so many other ways.
My Project
Art students have been eager to learn more about the pottery wheel. Their interest and curiosity is inspiring! The pottery wheel would be used in both of our ceramics electives and for years to come.
In Ceramics class, students will be able to master the skill of working with the pottery wheel; however, they will actually walk away with much MORE than that.
The pottery wheel builds character, teaches grit, and gives students the opportunity to be creative and try something new! The pottery wheel also teaches students the valuable lesson of perseverance.
My students will be so appreciative of a pottery wheel. Thank you so much for your support in our ceramics program!
