This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I want to support my seniors with their career and college planning. Many of our students are first generation to graduate high school and even plan on going to college. Their families do not know much about the college and financial aid application process, which is why we work so hard to educate them on the process. When it comes to filling out FASFA forms there are some students who need more individual help. Year after year, data reveals gaps in high school graduates’ readiness for life after high school. We have been upgraded to a bigger office and now have more room to host more students. We are in need of more technology so that students can work together on their post secondary plans.
We are always looking to narrow the persistent gaps in achievement and college and career readiness between ethnic and socioeconomic subgroups.
This is why our school is working collectively with students and family on education around financial aid and scholarships for college. This MacBook air would truly be an asset to our career and college readiness program. This is something that will help them throughout the rest of their lives. With your support I can try to close these gaps and better prepare our youth that will someday lead this country.
