My Project

Our classroom community is student-centered for fourth grade learners who are physically, emotionally, developmentally, and culturally unique. One size doesn't necessarily fit all which is easy to see as testing season approaches. The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress is upon us and it's time for my students to show what they know. Now is their time to shine! My fourth graders want to succeed and do their best which means they're carrying stress and testing anxiety on their shoulders.

Creating a positive testing environment and culture in our classroom will allow my fourth graders to outshine the stress and do their best on the test.

My goal as their teacher is to be equipped with what my students need to succeed as well as be a cheerleader to encourage and lighten the mood around testing to help my diverse learners work just a little harder.

A sweet, encouraging notecard and a savory snack will fill my fourth graders hearts and tummies to put their best foot forward on the state test. I want to set my learners up for success to do their best on the test and remind them to trust in themselves and their capabilities.

Mathsketball: A Story of Test Anxiety will be an inspirational book in which some students see themselves reflected in the story. My students will relate to the character and find they're not alone in how they feel about test taking as well as help them find hope and encouragement to overcome any big test jitters they may have. It's important for all my students to see themselves as successful scholars as they rise to the occasion and shine bright!
