This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love snacks and activities that promote creativity and freedom. It is a nice change of pace that should be prioritized in a classroom setting. Students are humans just as the adults that teach them. They deserve stimulation that allows them to explore themselves through extracurricular activities such as coloring pages, building with LEGO bricks, fidgets for students to keep calm during vulnerable conversations, but most importantly engaging amongst one another that in a way that promotes positive social-emotional learning. That is why these items will help create opportunity for my students to explore topics of SEL, social/self awareness, and overall well being.

Education is one part of human development, another major component is possessing the power of self awareness.

Through fun activities in the classroom, my students can laugh, smile, and gain a sense of belonging. Some students are more socially aware than others. They possess the ability to read their own emotions (as well as the emotions of others), learn to take accountability for their actions, and have great critical decision making skills while others learn from their mistakes. This project is meant to help curate activities with my students that will help them understand the young adult they plan to be and to create healthy coping mechanisms that will shine light on the power of creating positive affect in their lives.
