I am in my seventh year of teaching and I have taught kindergarten through fifth grade.

The one thing that I've found is common throughout all of the grade levels that I have taught is that in order to be successful, students need to feel a sense of belonging in the classroom and to feel safe and respected. Every year I try to improve my classroom management skills to ensure my students' success. It is my job as a teacher to not only teach my students about math and language arts but also how to be successful members of their community.

My Project

I am requesting funding to purchase an Apple iPad Air 2 that I can take with me to my Positive Discipline in the Classroom workshop being held in San Diego, California. This is such a valuable workshop that I want to be able to document my experience with pictures and notes so that I can better implement what I learn once I return to the classroom. This program has been shown to empower teachers with skills to build their students’ sense of community, prepare them for successful living, and increase academic achievement. Secondly, I want to use the iPad Air 2 to view the other online professional development workshops that I was awarded in my previous Donors Choose project. Finally, I want to use the iPad to help implement the Positive Discipline methods in my classroom.

I need to ensure that I remember all of the important information that will be share with me at the Positive Discipline workshop.

I am attending this workshop to improve my classroom management skills. I will also be participating in online classroom management workshops and the iPad Air 2 will make it more convenient for me to attend these workshops while at school or at home.
