My Students

Molokai Middle School Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) Program involves all student body. Each week, we focus on a specific school-wide behavior expectation. Incentives are both scheduled and randomly awarded, by staff and by parent visitors. We spread positive vibes!

Currently, we have a PBIS pilot project with 30 students representing the broader student body of 200.

We have English learners, homeless students, high-achievers, high & low income, Hawaiian language learners, and students from every side of the island. These students are excited to be leaders, and are helping to build the pride at Molokai Middle School, and across our island.

My Project

Having immediate access to an "Epson PictureMate Charm photo printer and related supplies" in our classroom will enable students to print photos for use as thank you photo-postcards to our parent visitors and supporters. Currently we are taking photos of our parents and guardians who support our students by making "positive visits". However, we do not have supplies to properly print photos; our school laminator just broke, eliminating the option of laminating a photo printed on copy paper. The portable Epson PictureMate Charm photo printer will allow students to print photos immediately and professionally, within minutes. Students will then affix a message of thanks and mail out to visitors immediately. Students will also be able to print copies for our Principal's office and a designated bragging board on our campus.

Students will learn (1) the importance of parent involvement in schools, (2) the importance and value of "thank you".

Students will also hear the positive chatter within our small community and feel pride in their role to develop positive school-family-community relations. Having a photo printer will help us create a personal and professional postcard in minutes. Parents will receive their postcard swiftly, and another copy can be posted on campus as evidence to students that "parents care"!
