My Project

As part of implementing positive behavior intervention in my classroom and lessons, I really would like to encourage students to turn their PBIS rewards into a community service of sorts.

The gift cards in this project will serve as rewards for positive behavior intervention, but also a community service-based learning experience.

Students who earn these rewards will then be encouraged to use the gift cards to order materials for Valentine themed community service project. That could be cards they make for residents of our local VA hospital, activity bags they put together for kids in our local foster care system, toys and treats they package for dogs at the local animal shelter, craft materials to make Valentines for students and staff at our school, or materials for a project of their own design. This will be both a reward for meeting our PBIS expectations, but it will also help students treat others to kindness who may be lacking it in their lives, which is a valuable social emotional learning experience.
