This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students come from environments where violence is their everyday norm and lack social and emotional regulation. They bring those experiences to school with them, which affects their behavior in school, causing them to get discipline referrals, be sent out of the classroom, and be behind academically. They often times don't receive a positive incentive because of their behavior that is learned from their home environments.

These items will help me to reinforce positive reinforcement incentives to change student behavior.

The donations will support good behavior following an incentive of their choosing from the offering, making it more likely that the behavior will change because students want to work for an incentive. Students will develop self-regulation and emotional regulation skills through positive reinforcement incentives. When the desired behavior happens, or a reward occurs after a joyous day, that particular behavior will be strengthened. This donor's choose project will help me teach my students self-regulation, emotional regulation, and self-awareness.
