This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are a Title 1 school with more than 68% of our population being new to the country. This poses a specific challenge as students do have to adapt to not only to the new culture, but they have to adapt to the new school and classroom cultures that they are in. Teaching my students how to learn new life skills and academic skills is a challenge as they navigate through language and societal norms. I use a positive behavior plan to help my students navigate through these challenges. During the semester, they can earn passes for positive behavior, hard work and resilience. They then can use these passes to enter a raffle where they can use passes to buy gifts. We also have a party at the end of the semester where they celebrate their successes. I need your donations to keep my students motivated to try to become the best versions of themselves because it is not easy for all of them to get there. Your donations will help with this mission.
