My Project

I love my students for their curiosity, resilience, and endless potential. Each day, they come to school with different challenges, yet they bring with them a desire to learn, connect, and grow. My goal is to create an environment where every student—especially those who may not always make the best choices—feels seen, valued, and motivated to succeed. Positive reinforcement has become a powerful tool in achieving this, and it’s made clear that when we focus on rewarding good behavior, attendance, and participation, students rise to meet those expectations.

Too often, students who make wrong choices get the most attention, and we want to change that.

By using PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) points, we encourage students to make good decisions and reward them for positive contributions. These points can be exchanged for high-interest items like AirPods, headphones, soccer balls, and basketballs. Each of these rewards serves a specific purpose: headphones support focused learning in tech-based assignments, while sports equipment promotes teamwork and healthy outlets during free time. These resources are more than just prizes—they’re motivation for students to stay engaged in their learning and their school community.

The goal of this project is to shift the narrative and show students that making the right choice brings positive attention and real rewards. We want to celebrate the students who consistently show up, try their best, and uplift others. With these tools, we’re not only improving behavior and attendance, but also building a positive, inclusive school culture where all students feel inspired to grow.
