My Project

My Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia students are in love with Patricia Polacco books. Many of them can relate to her story since she is the author, illustrator, and in many of her books the main character. Polacco struggled in school like my students do so they are very encouraged when we read a story of hers.

Answering Open Ended Questions, Exclusions/Negatives, Listening, Semantics, Grammar, Inferences, Paraphrasing, Compare/Contrast, Social Communication, and Problem Solving are just a few of the Reading Comprehension and Writing Skills that are embedded in Patricia Polacco's texts.

Her books help make reading and writing fun while still learning necessary skills for life, as well as, nonfiction events in history.
