My Students
Students walk into the special education classrooms a school full of energy and ready to learn. Many of the students have challenges that stand in the way, making learning harder for them. I teach special education students from pre-kindergarten to 4th grade. My school is in a metro area with 100% receiving free lunch. I need to create a positive learning environment to support all types of learners. My students come into my classroom for help, sometimes feeling hopeful but other times feeling like failures. Each student has different academic needs, as well as different emotional needs.
My Project
Students enter my classroom to find ways to better support their learning style and be more successful in the school classrooms. The magnetic letters, writing utensils, spinner, and play-doh will help all students learn in specific ways geared to how they learn better. The bike pedals will allow students to get out the wiggles without having to distract our learners.
The learning environment will be not only a safe, positive place for the students but a place for interacting learning to take place.
The students will feel more comfortable coming into a classroom with a whiteboard on the wall, rug in the floor, and child-friendly wall decor.
