My Project
Youths respond to this evidence-based, positive behavioral intervention recognized nationally as the primary, non-pharmaceutical intervention for ADHD children. These youths are able to increase their levels of learning when they are trained to improve their positive behaviors. This can be accomplished with a positive feedback system comprised of social rewards and tangible rewards which help them to focus on the task at hand and to have motivation for achieving the task. Model programs from the MTA research protocols were able to achieve a success rate of over 90% in all settings.
Success for ADHD youths is critical as it is the most prevalent childhood mental health disorder.
Annual mental health costs are in the billions per year to society for ADHD adults that have gone on to have oppositional defiant or conduct disorder diagnosis due to not receiving evidence-based interventions and often end up incarcerated.
