My Students
CEC is a unique educational environment for at-risk students in grades kindergarten through 12th. Our school is a cooperative program for students who have intensive emotional, behavioral, and academic needs. We are striving to implement trauma-informed care for our students to foster healthy relationships and whole-child growth.
Our students are a very diverse group when it comes to backgrounds and experiences but overall are united in their need for a different kind of education than what the typical school provides.
We implement many alternative strategies to support our students to create a sense of belonging and personal empowerment. Many of our students find that within our walls they are able to feel success for the first time in an educational setting.
My Project
Our students thrive on incentives. Increasing positive behaviors ultimately increases academics and self worth. We provide coupons for positive behaviors throughout the days. Once a week the students have the opportunity to use their coupons to buy school supplies, snacks, drinks, hygiene products, toys, clothing etc. If they choose to save their coupons they can buy bigger ticket items such as model kits, dart boards, IPods, etc. Our students thrive on incentives and rewards as well as relationships. Showing we are proud of them by giving them coupons shows we notice them and care about them. Thank you for your help!
