My Students

Our school is an exceptional school located on the edge of a newer, middle-class neighborhood. Our students are a difficult group to generalize, merging from many different backgrounds. We have some students that have come from Europe and Asia, while some were born right here in Herriman.

Our students work in a rigorous classroom environment that promotes exploration and experimentation, and knowledge building through inquiry-based learning.

They all have a few things in common. They're kids. They are eager and timid. They want to shine but don't want to stand out. They have talents and ambitions but need to learn so much in a rapidly changing world. We are trying to get them ready.

My Project

Our students need help with their conceptual drawing skills, and the most important skill in storytelling art is the the ability to draw the human figure.

With studio lighting and posable drawing figurines, students will be able to create whole scenes as they design the gestures, visual interactions, and directional lighting to create the visual reference they need for narrative illustration.

The Body Kun and Figma posable figurines are realistic, and will help students develop their drawing skills as they explore accurate human proportions, the affect of light and shadow on form, and visual perspective as it relates to foreshortening. Students will use these tools to study gesture, body language, and juxtaposition as it relates to story telling.
