My Students
I teach in a Title I school. My students have limited sports opportunities outside of school. I would like to teach them the lifetime sport of tennis not only during physical education class but in an afterschool spring tennis club as well. In order to make this possible, I need portable nets.
My students attend a low-income, Title I school in South Carolina.
They are great kids. They have great athletic potential. However, they have not been blessed with outside sporting opportunities. I am limited at times in what I can teach them without the proper equipment to do so.
My Project
If my students are provided the portable tennis nets, I will be able to not only be able to teach them tennis skills in physical education class but I will also be able to host an afterschool tennis club. The afterschool tennis club will enrich these children's lives by providing them with a positive after-school activity.
Childhood obesity and sedentary lifestyles are all too prevalent in today's society, especially in children of poverty.
Based on life circumstances, my students have not been afforded the same opportunities that many of their peers from middle class families have been. I would like to provide them with an encouraging afterschool program where they can learn the life skill of tennis.
