Popular Library Books vs. Backpack Water Bottles: Water Bottles Win
Help me give my students the library books they want to read. Our original copies were lost or damaged and are no longer in our collection, but having new or hardcover copies will help them last longer.

My Project
The library services 360 students in grades 3-6, and students visit throughout the day looking for books to read. During the 2021-2022 school year, students checked out over 9,000 books! Unfortunately, with all those checkouts, some of our most popular library books have been lost or damaged by water bottle spills, gum stuck in the pages, or puppies eating the cover.
The Library is the place for students to select what they want to read regardless of reading level, required genre, or format; this is an opportunity for students to become lifelong readers.
In a study in 2006 regarding student reading choices, Edmunds and Bauserman said, "Students choose books that match their personal interests—both narrative and expository texts. Kids are also drawn to books that their friends or other trusted readers recommend."
My students are avid readers and would be thrilled to have these exciting titles replaced. Thank you for being so helpful in getting these books back into the hands of my students!
