My Students
Our students are all special needs, ages 3-21. They enjoy things all students enjoy, hanging out with their friends, listening to music, all types of books, going new places, and seeing new things.
Many of our students have very specific sensory needs, these fidgets will help us to accommodate the needs of every child and help us continue to work on our coping and self soothing skills.
Sometimes we aren't very quiet or still. Some of our students struggle with mental illness and are working to use their coping skills, being able to move while they learn is helpful and allows us to quiet our minds and bodies.
My Project
These items are to help our students practice their coping skills. The fidgets will allows students to work on self soothing, when they are upset or overwhelmed. Many of our students have very specific sensory needs and several are also mentally ill.
We work daily on out coping skills and how to appropriately express our emotions.
Fidgets for the whole school will also make their use more common and no one will feel alone.
The more we practice these skills, the easier it becomes to utilize them, when we need them.
