My Students

"Science is a way of life...Science is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding in a manner that's precise, predictive and reliable - a transformation, for those lucky enough to experience it, that is empowering and emotional." Brian Greene I want my students to experience science!

My students have a hunger for knowledge, growth and discovery.

They enjoy learning new things and sharing that knowledge with other people. They do their best learning when it is hands-on and interactive. We are a very active class daily and they really enjoy working with each other. Our school is set in a rural neighborhood in a small town. We have a strong community bond with in our school and the staff and students all support each other. We try new things to build learning and discovery,we take that leap of faith instead of saying what if?

My Project

My students need a pollination learning garden kit to help teach them about the importance of pollination. My students will have the opportunity to discover bugs as well as put together a raised garden bed. The garden bed will become a pollinator habitat, helping to teach them about pollination and why it is important. We will bring in a specialist on pollination to engage the students in more learning that can be shared with their peers. My students will be completing many of these projects with their little buddy class, a 2nd grade class. The students will be given the materials to plant milkweed at home, which will create a Monarch butterfly corridor. Students will help the monarch health project which enables them to contribute research that may stop the decline of the monarch butterfly.

The donations to this project well help my students learn about pollination which leads to new learning about growth of plants and food that we consume.

They will learn what would happen without the pollination process as well. It will change their lives in the sense that it is a new subject for many of them that they can use to teach others, including their family members. The garden will create a sense of responsibility, as they will be in charge of making sure the growth happens.
