This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Having a good selection of poetry books is super important for helping struggling readers get into poetry and improve their reading skills. Poems with simple rhymes, repetition, and easy-to-follow structures make it easier for kids to build confidence and practice things like phonics and word recognition. Plus, when they’re able to pick out poems that interest them, reading feels a lot less intimidating. Poetry books give students the chance to explore different styles and forms, and having them readily available in the classroom helps make reading more fun and accessible. The more students are exposed to poetry, the more they start to enjoy it and improve as readers and writers.
